Much of the theory proposed on this page remains speculative and extends beyond established scientific models. The observations are presented as a starting point for investigation rather than as a complete or proven explanation of Double Coil Technology.
Double Coil Technology began not with a theory, but with an observation.
Two closely related electrical currents were arranged so that their electromagnetic fields largely opposed and cancelled one another. Conventional reasoning might suggest that the resulting condition should be of little significance.
Yet something appeared to remain.
People reported changes in the perception of music. Some sensitive individuals described a direct awareness of the field itself. Later experiments produced observations relating to wellbeing and physical symptoms.
The central question therefore became:
What, if anything, is created when two electromagnetic effects are deliberately brought into opposition?
Cancellation and the Double Coil
An electrical current produces a magnetic field. When two carefully matched currents travel in opposite directions through closely arranged coils, their magnetic fields can oppose one another and may largely cancel within parts of the surrounding space.
This cancellation is the starting point of Double Coil Technology.
We describe the resulting condition as a Nothing.
By this we do not mean an absolute absence of everything. We mean a condition in which two matching electromagnetic effects have been deliberately arranged in opposition so that much of their conventional field expression is cancelled.
The intriguing observation is that this apparent cancellation still seems capable of producing noticeable effects upon human perception and, possibly, consciousness.
This raises the central theoretical problem.
If the familiar electromagnetic field is being substantially cancelled, what remains capable of producing an effect?
At present, we do not know.
How the Discovery Developed
The origins of Double Coil Technology go back to the late 1990s, when we began exploring a very different idea.
The original aim was to create an apparatus capable of providing treatment automatically while a person slept. Coils attached to, or incorporated within, a bed would deliver electromagnetic energy at selected frequencies while the treatment was monitored.
We experimented with different coils, frequencies and intensities.
The results were interesting but rarely practical. Rather than producing the peaceful overnight treatment we had imagined, the experiments often disturbed sleep.
For several years, progress was limited.
A major change occurred in 2011 when a friend suggested that we investigate the Schumann resonance.
The Schumann resonances are naturally occurring electromagnetic resonances within the region between the Earth’s surface and the ionosphere. The fundamental frequency is approximately 7.83 Hz.
We constructed an experimental arrangement using coils formed from the windings of a toroidal transformer and connected them to a signal generator operating at approximately this frequency.
When the apparatus was first switched on, music happened to be playing.
Almost immediately, the music seemed different.
It appeared more melodic.
The ambience increased.
The soundstage seemed larger and more spacious.
At first we assumed that the electrical apparatus must somehow be altering the audio signal.
But when we examined the transformer more closely, we noticed something important.
Two nearly identical coils had been connected in series so that their magnetic fields opposed one another.
Instead of deliberately producing a strong electromagnetic field, we had inadvertently created a substantial degree of cancellation.
This was the beginning of the Double Coil.
Over the following years, we repeatedly attempted to record the apparent change in the music.
We could not.
The recordings themselves did not reveal the effect that listeners appeared to experience.
Gradually, a different possibility emerged.
Perhaps the music was not changing.
Perhaps the listener was.
If that interpretation is correct, Double Coil Technology may be interacting not primarily with the audio signal, but with perception or consciousness.

Experiencing the Field
We have now carried out listening comparisons with more than 200 people, including experienced musicians and a well-known record producer.
A large majority reported hearing some difference when the Double Coil field was present.
Common descriptions include:
● Greater spaciousness.
● Increased ambience.
● A more melodic quality.
● A larger or more immersive soundstage.
● A sense that the music becomes easier or more pleasant to listen to.
A small number of particularly sensitive people report that they can feel the field directly without using music.
For most people, however, music appears to provide the clearest way of noticing the apparent difference.
Our observations suggest that the field may take approximately 30 seconds to develop after the device is switched on, whereas the perceived effect appears to disappear almost immediately when it is switched off.
For this reason, when comparing the two conditions we normally begin with the device operating and then switch it off.
Curiously, teenagers have often been among those least likely to report a difference.
We do not know whether this reflects hearing, attention, expectation, neurological differences, familiarity with music, or some entirely different factor.
These observations remain subjective.
Repeated blind comparisons and independent controlled experiments would be required to establish how reliably the effect can be detected.
Coherence, Power and the Apparent Bubble
One experiment proved particularly important.
We supplied the same mono audio signal to a stereo amplifier and powered two identical coils independently — one from the left channel and one from the right.
Under these conditions, we detected no clear Double Coil effect.
However, when the same two coils were connected directly in series, the familiar effect returned.
This suggests that simple electromagnetic cancellation may not be sufficient.
The two currents may also need to possess a precise relationship or coherence.
There is a loose analogy here with interference experiments such as Young’s double-slit experiment, where the relationship between waves is fundamental to the resulting interference pattern.
We are not suggesting that the Double Coil is simply another version of the double-slit experiment.
The comparison merely illustrates that relationships between waves can sometimes be as important as their individual properties.
Another striking observation concerns power.
We have experimented with power levels ranging from approximately 200 watts down to nanowatts.
Surprisingly, the reported perceptual effect appeared broadly similar over this enormous range.
That is difficult to reconcile with a simple conventional electromagnetic explanation.
Similarly, ordinary radiating electromagnetic fields normally weaken rapidly with increasing distance from their source.
The apparent Double Coil effect does not seem to behave in this familiar way.
Instead, it appears to occupy a relatively uniform region around the device, roughly comparable in scale to a medium-sized house.
For descriptive purposes, we call this region a bubble.
The bubble remains an experimental description rather than an established physical measurement.
Carefully controlled measurements would be required to determine whether it has measurable boundaries, gradients, field characteristics, or other physical properties.
Nevertheless, the combination of apparent coherence, weak dependence upon power, and relatively uniform spatial effect led us to suspect that something more subtle than ordinary electromagnetic radiation may be involved.
Frequencies, Environmental Fields and Body Feedback
The original breakthrough involved the Schumann resonance frequency, but later experiments suggested that 7.83 Hz was not unique.
A wide variety of frequencies appeared capable of producing similar perceptual effects.
We experimented across a very broad range, including frequencies extending into the kilohertz and megahertz regions.
We also investigated electromagnetic energy already present within the environment.
This included signals associated with mobile communications and Wi-Fi, together with magnetic fields arising from mains electricity.
Some experimental devices could obtain sufficient energy directly from surrounding electromagnetic fields and therefore required no separate amplifier.
These observations again encouraged the possibility that the effect depends less upon absolute energy or power and more upon the relationship, balance and coherence between the two opposing components.
The next major development involved the small natural electrical potential differences present across the human body.
We initially constructed devices incorporating two metal plates upon which a person could place their bare feet.
The body’s own electrical potential then became part of the operating arrangement.
This created a form of feedback system linking the individual directly with the paired coils.
Listening to music during these experiments proved useful both for relaxation and for observing possible changes in perception.
Sessions were commonly around 10 minutes in duration and were often repeated for three or four consecutive days.

From Experimental Treatment to the Dongle
The early purpose of the project had been therapeutic, and eventually we returned to that original question.
Could the unusual condition produced by the Double Coil have effects beyond the perception of music?
We experimented with numerous frequencies and arrangements.
Many produced no obvious or repeatable result.
However, over time we received encouraging reports in several areas, particularly:
● Anxiety and negative states of mind.
● Allergies.
● Hay fever.
● Some autoimmune conditions.
These reports do not constitute controlled medical evidence and should not be interpreted as proof of therapeutic effectiveness.
Nevertheless, the observations appeared sufficiently consistent to justify further investigation.
After receiving encouraging reports from people experiencing hay fever, we began looking for a way to make the original treatment apparatus considerably smaller and easier to use.
This eventually led to the DCT Dongle.
The Dongle uses the small electrical potentials naturally available across the human body rather than requiring an external high-powered signal generator.
It can be held between the hands, positioned between the feet, or worn around the neck as a pendant.
The development of this simple device transformed Double Coil Technology from a laboratory-style experimental arrangement into something that could be constructed and investigated by other people.

The aim of this project is not simply to collect successful reports.
Positive, neutral and unsuccessful observations are equally important.
A genuine understanding can emerge only when experiments are recorded honestly and when unexpected or negative findings are given the same attention as encouraging ones.
A Wider Interpretation
Taken together, the observations are difficult to explain confidently using familiar electromagnetic models alone.
That does not mean conventional physics must be wrong.
Nor does it mean that an exotic explanation has been established.
It means that there appears to be a gap between what has been observed and what we can presently explain.
Modern physics already provides many reminders that ordinary intuition is an unreliable guide to fundamental reality.
Quantum field theory, for example, portrays apparently empty space as possessing structure and activity very different from the classical concept of a simple void.
Interference and coherence demonstrate that relationships between waves can profoundly influence physical outcomes.
Modern cosmology also describes conditions in the early universe far removed from anything encountered in ordinary experience.
None of these ideas provides an explanation of Double Coil Technology.
They simply remind us that what appears to be Nothing at one level of description need not necessarily be physically insignificant at a deeper level.
One possibility is that electromagnetic cancellation creates an unusual condition within surrounding fields.
A deeper possibility is that the cancellation permits interaction with some level of physical reality that is normally hidden by stronger conventional electromagnetic effects.
More speculatively still, the apparent bubble might involve additional spatial dimensions, an unknown field, or some relationship between physical fields and consciousness.
These possibilities remain hypotheses.
They should not be confused with experimental findings.
At present, we have observations and questions rather than a completed theory.

Evidence and Open Questions
Several alternative explanations must be considered seriously.
Expectation can alter perception.
The placebo effect can influence symptoms and wellbeing.
Listening comparisons can be influenced by attention, suggestion and experimental procedure.
Personal testimony, however sincere, cannot by itself establish a physical mechanism or medical effect.
For these reasons, Double Coil Technology requires controlled investigation and independent replication.
The central questions remain open:
● What physical condition is actually produced when the two electromagnetic fields oppose one another?
● Is cancellation itself responsible for the effect, or is the coherence between the coils more important?
● Why do very different power levels appear to produce broadly similar perceptual reports?
● Why does the apparent effect not seem to weaken with distance in the manner expected of an ordinary radiating electromagnetic field?
● Does the apparent bubble possess measurable physical boundaries or properties?
● Can changes in music perception be demonstrated reliably under blinded conditions?
● Can reported effects upon wellbeing or symptoms be reproduced in controlled studies?
● Is consciousness involved directly, or are the perceptual effects caused through some presently unidentified physical or neurological mechanism?
Double Coil Technology remains experimental.
It should not be regarded as a substitute for medical diagnosis, prescribed treatment, or appropriate professional care.
Its real value will depend not upon how unusual the claims appear, but upon whether the observations can ultimately survive careful testing.
These simple experiments may eventually contribute to a deeper understanding of fields, energy and human consciousness. Their significance will depend upon careful investigation, independent replication and a willingness to follow the evidence wherever it leads.

Double Coil Technology has developed through experimentation, failure, observation and a small number of unexpected breakthroughs.
Its true nature remains unknown.
That uncertainty is not a weakness of the project. It is the reason for continuing it.
The most constructive approach is to distinguish clearly between what has been observed, what has been reported, and what is presently only a possible interpretation — while remaining open to the possibility that a very simple arrangement of two opposing coils may be revealing something we do not yet understand.
